Although the move to Australia marked a new chapter for us, this place isn’t entirely new. Dallas grew up in Ballina, and over the years, our many visits have always left us inspired — by the landscape, the light, and the laid-back vibe.
So when we began building re.curated, it made sense to look close to home. We’ve been slowly discovering and sourcing from Australian brands that share our love for thoughtful design, honest materials, and pieces that feel calm and timeless.
One of the first we connected with was Søktas, a lighting studio based in Queensland. Their hand-blown glass lights are sculptural, soft, and full of soul — exactly the kind of magic we want to bring into the spaces we create. We have already used them in several project back home, and we are thrilled to be able to offer them to our community back home.
And there’s a fun fact:
Søktas was founded in Oslo by Swedish designer Oliver Höglund and Australian Ryan Roberts, Søktas blends Scandinavian roots with Australian warmth — a mix that feels especially close to home for us. Oliver is a third-generation glass artist, carrying on a family tradition passed down from his father and grandfather. Every piece is hand-blown by Oliver himself — a slow, intense process that results in timeless, one-of-a-kind lighting.
We’ll be sharing more of these local finds as re.curated grows. For us, it’s not just about beautiful objects — it’s about the stories, the people, and the intention behind them.
